This twenty thousand square foot residence was built for the founder of the Prudential Insurance Company by renowned architect George B. Post. Stone restoration on this comprehensive project included 100% of the estate buildings and selected monuments. Scope included the following general masonry as well as detailed work: Fieldstone work: documentation, dismantling, moving and rebuilding of various piers, walls and all chimneys. Terra cotta: replication and replacement of damaged custom units including chimney caps, cornices, corbels, window surrounds, and 100% of radiused entablature above solarium columns. Limestone and marble sculptures: cleaning, consolidation, and replacement of damaged areas with carved “Dutchman” units. General restoration: 100% stone cleaning, pointing, removal of previous incompatible repairs and a “modern style ” building addition, matching of dimensional brownstone and limestone, as well as recreating of original mortar joint profiles and colors.
